Monthly Meetings
Platte Valley Antique Machinery Association holds monthly meetings on
the first Sunday of each month with the exception of September and
December. From April through August we meet at Dyer Park at 1pm
for a pot luck lunch. Dyer Park is 8 miles south of Hastings on
Hwy 281, on the left side of the road, just after you cross the Little
Blue River. All are asked to bring a dish of your choice and table
ware. Beverages of water, iced tea and coffee are provided.
Business meetings are held at 1:45
In
October, the club hosts an Appreciation Supper for all the sponsors,
volunteers and members of the club who helped with the annual show.
Again, this is on the first Sunday in October, but at 5 pm. The
club supplies the meal, table ware and beverage.
The
club has made it an annual event to hold its November meeting at Robb
Mercantile in Doniphan for a soup lunch ( four members bring soup and
others bring finger goods. For dessert the members enjoy one or
two of the many ice cream desserts and drinks available from the old
fashion ice cream soda fountain. These ice cream treats and
beverages are at the members' expense.
The
January meeting is our belated Christmas dinner event. A different
restaurant in the area is chosen each year ( for location see the
November monthly minutes). The meal is at the members' expense.
February and March meetings are usually held at a local bank meeting
room or at another restaurant. These locations are announced a
month ahead of time in the monthly minutes.
Annual Events
Each
year the club participates in decorating two Christmas trees for the
Annual Festival of Trees held at the Hastings Museum.
Two
weeks prior to the Annual Show (see link) we get together to make the
homemade ice cream that is sold at the show.
